These are all works in progress for Steve Jung's and Luke Berliner's Entertainment Design Class at Red Engine Studios. The world / story that I've designed revolves around Future-Orientalist themes. A kind of Sci-fi reinterpretation of classical Orientalist paintings by Gerome, etc. I'm also interested in how Islam would be reinterpreted on a different planet. Would they create an analogue to the Kabaa in Mecca, for example? Anyway, there are some homages to authors and painters that I admire.

I went back to Chicago for a week for Christmas. For the last several years I attended a New Year's drawing marathon downtown, but I decided not to go this year. Maybe it's all the Japanese I studied over the years, but I like the idea of starting the year off right with a lot of good momentum--kagami-biraki or kangeiko. This year I tried to do 100 mech designs. Merry X-Mas! Happy New Year!
